Biography:
Formerly a member of the Republic of Ireland Youth teams, Derry City defender Shane McEleney was first called into the Northern Ireland Under-21 team for a friendly against Hungary in August 2012. He marked his debut with a goal in a 3-2 defeat.

A Derry-native, McEleney made his Candystripes debut against Drogheda in September 2009 and remained with the club after they were demoted from the Premier Division. He established himself in the team as they claimed the First Division title in 2010 and played his part in FAI Cup and League Cup wins as well as big European matches in the seasons that followed.

Mid-way through the 2015 season McEleney left Derry for St Pat's.
