Biography:
An uncompromising centre-half, Cecil Crawford was noted as one who never "hands in  his guns"!

Crawford was a product of one of the leading junior clubs of the mid-1930s, Whitehouse R.C., who played on the Shore Road. He then spent some time with Linfield, but his time at Windsor Park was largely limited to the ranks of the Swifts and he moved on to Cliftonville in search of regular senior football.

Adept at the patrolling the middle of the field, but perhaps somewhat lacking in pace, Crawford was first touted as a potential Amateur international while still playing with Linfield Swifts, but it was after joining Cliftonville that he claimed his only cap.

His father, James Crawford, was a respected football scout, discovering "in the ranks of cross-Channel teams, men who were good enough to wear the Irish jersey."
