Biography:
Northern Ireland Schoolboy and Youth international Michael Ferguson won all the available medals with Glentoran in the late-90s and early-2000s. He had come through the youth ranks at The Oval with the likes of Stuart Elliott, Andy Kirk and Warren Feeney and made his debut against Crusaders in April 1998, establishing himself as a regular in defence the following season, usually at left-back. He lost his place to Mark Glendinning in 2001/02 and at the end of that season he was allowed to join Lisburn Distillery. With the Whites he featured in midfield and at right-back as well as in his preferred left-back role. He was released in 2008 and joined Dundela where he played through to November 2009 when he quit football to attend Bible college. Capped twice at Under-21 level, the sum total of his career at this level was just a few minutes as he came on as an 89th substitute in games against Turkey in 1999 and Malta in 2000.
