Biography:
Jimmy Todd signed for Blackpool during the Second World War and played for the Seasiders in War-Time football and in the first peace-time FA Cup season. He played mainly at left-half at club level, but was selected as a right-half for Ireland’s Victory Internationals against England and Scotland, both at Windsor Park, during the 1945/46 season. He never featured for Blackpool in the Football League and never added “Full” international honours to his collection.

In 1946 Todd joined Division Three (South) Port Vale for a "club record four-figure fee", making his debut in a 2-1 home win over Torquay that October. He spent seven seasons at Vale Park, featuring at right or left-half when required, as the club struggled to finish above mid-table. Their best season in this time was 1952/53, Todd’s last. The club had transferred to Division Three (North) and he made just eleven appearances as the Valiants finished runners-up, just a point behind Oldham. Unfortunately in those days only the champions were promoted. The following season Port Vale were promoted as champions.

Noted as "a real terrier type who used to fight for the ball all the time," after leaving Vale Park, Todd remained in the Stoke area and later played for Wellington Town and Stafford Rangers.
