Biography:
First called-up to the Northern Ireland squad in the autumn of 1983, it would be six-and-a-half years before Colin Hill earned his first cap!

Hill joined the staff at Arsenal as a sixteen year-old striker in 1979, signing professionally on 31st July 1981. Converted to a defender, he made his debut in a 3-1 defeat at Norwich on 20th April 1983. In all he made 46 league appearances for the Gunners, at centre-half and right-back, scoring his only goal in a 4-1 home win over Nottingham Forest in October 1983. His place at Highbury came under threat due to the big-money signing of Viv Anderson and the emergence of the likes of Tony Adams and Martin Keown and in July 1986 he was freed to join Portuguese side, CS Maritimo.

Maritimo's leading scorer during the 1986/87 season with eight goals, Hill returned to the UK after a year, joining Colchester United in the Fourth Division. He finally returned to the topflight with Sheffield United who finished Second Division runners-up in 1990. That same season he made his international debut for Northern Ireland, six-and-a-half years after his first call-up.

Colin Hill is currently a commercial director with the PFA.
